Cheers to Something New

What’s that saying…New Year, New You? First off, that sounds like it involves going to the gym, so that’s a non-starter for me. However, while we might not be going hardcore, I definitely have a few things up my sleeve.

Why you might ask? Why in this age of short-from content and bite-sized videos would I consider doing something as retro as blogging? Didn’t that die out with the dinosaurs and bell bottoms, or at least MySpace? And you might be right, but this girl is a writer and to paraphrase T. Swiszle “writer’s gonna write”.

In all seriousness, I love my newsletter. I enjoy getting to talk to my girls and my dudes every week, but there are times I feel like I want to share more and I just don’t want to add yet another email to anyone’s inbox. If yours is like mine then that is the last thing you need. (I might have just taken a peek to add it here, but the shame is preventing me from disclosing it. And now I feel sick.) Suffice it to say, no one needs another email. But do they need another blog? Who the fork knows? (You just became my new bestie if you caught the reference)

Blogging might be a dying art, but hey, so were malls at one point and I just watched a video that says they are having a resurgence. Everything old becomes new again at some point, so why not here and now? Plus, with all the social media hopscotch that has been going on, I like the idea of having a place where I control the narrative. I get to share what I want my readers to see and I don’t have to worry if a platform goes offline for half a day. (We all know who I’m side-eyeing)

Plus I like the idea of letting you all get to know me better. If we are being honest, there is only so much I can share in a newsletter once a week. Between cover reveals, sneak peeks, authors I’m liking, and everything else I try to pack in there I might as well send you a pamphlet if I try adding anything else. That’s just not cool. So I’m going back to my roots. I’ve dusted off the non-dusty keyboard, come on, I’m a writer, lit a candle, and here we are.

I wish I could tell you to keep on the lookout for weekly posts, or that I will be sharing every other Tuesday, but for now, I’m not sure exactly what the schedule will be. With the holidays going and then getting into the new year, it might take a moment before I’m cooking with gas, as my gram used to say. However, the moment I know, so will you.

For now, just give me a little grace and keep an eye out in the newsletter for updates.

Until Next Time,

Toodles.
